The National Petrochemical Company (NPC), considering statements of the Supreme Leader and his emphasis on increasing the production of the oil industry by relying on making oil industry a knowledge-based sector and also regarding his emphasis on completing the value chain, has started engineering activities of natural gas conversion to polypropylene by using localized Iranian technical knowhow to make maximum use of domestic manufacturing capabilities for construction of West Islamabad Petrochemical Complex with a capacity of 956,000 tons per year on a 54-hectare piece of land in accordance with the Approval of the Commission subject to Article 138 No. 45792 K dated January 2, 2011 and Approval of the Cabinet No. 116092/T55940 dated November 26, 2018 concerning development and investment facilitation in the western and eastern regions of the country and Article 3 of the General Policy Implementation Act of Article 44 of the Constitution in the areas subject to Note 1, and in order to fulfill the slogan of the calendar year of 1399 in the Zagros Special Economic Zone located in the deprived area of ​​West Islamabad, Kermanshah Province. Once operational, the plant will serve as a reproducible industrial reference for construction of 24 similar petrochemical projects which have been left hamstrung due to the oppressive sanctions by foreign technology providers. Besides, completion of the value chain, sustainable employment and economic prosperity are also sought by developing the project.
